Gail McNeillie originally trained as a ceramicist at the West Surrey College of Art & Design exploring her love of making in 3 dimensions. Incorporating an interest in fabric and textiles into her work, she began producing extremely delicate porcelain pieces originally stitched in fabric before being dipped in porcelain slip and then high fired until the fibre burnt away.
After leaving college Gail began her working life at the Tate Gallery before moving on to work in the City of London. With limited access to studio space, she focused on developing other artistic interests, including painting, dress making and textile design. Inspired by the ceramic horses of the Tang Dynasty, Gail has designed and produced fabric horses with carefully integrated floral designs.
