I first began painting in Tunisia where I studied drawing and painting at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Tunis. I lived in the 13th century village of Sidi bou Saiïd where I was drawn by the strong contrasts of light and shadowy, typical of North Africa. I have always strived to capture the unique rhythm and essence of each subject, whether it be a shimmering landscape, the intricate pattern of sunlit houses in an old village or a bustling port full of colourful fishing boats. During my 3 years in Mexico, I found inspiration in the hot colours and extraordinary light. Later I lived in Villefranche-sur-Mer, painting there and along the Ligurian coast of Italy. My most recent paintings were made in Spain and Provence, Santorini and Patmos, always drawn in by the light.
